USN TRUST Protein Flapjack Cranberry & Blueberry Flavour

‘Blueberry image is illustrative of flavour not contents’. Nice try, USN. This is why this TRUST protein flapjack makes protein snacks less and less trustworthy.

All right, USN. You got me! I was supposed to begin the review of this USN TRUST protein flapjack differently, but I can’t turn a blind eye to this. But let me put that this softer way. ‘8/10 overall score is illustrative of a score possible to get, but only the best can reach it’. If you know what I mean.

(Not so) jokes aside. This TRUST protein flapjack smells lovely. There’s an intensive scent of blueberries detectable and it’s mixed with a slight whiff of oats. Thus it’s pleasant and inviting. What I really liked in this flapjack is it’s pleasantly soft and effortless to eat. It’s barely chewy and hardly sticks to the teeth. Also, its moistness is satisfying, so many may eat it without a sip. Well done in this matter, USN.

I can also say many warm words about the taste of this snack.

USN TRUST Protein Flapjack Cranberry & Blueberry Flavour

There are two primary flavours in this USN protein flapjack, sour mixed berries and bitterness. They seem to be odd, but they complement each other perfectly. Berries give this snack a decent and sourish taste. And a bitterness coming most likely from oats prevents it from being too sourish. And there are soya crisps that happily crunch too. As a result of that, we get a delicious flapjack. But it’s definitely not too sweet. Anyway, it may be somehow satisfying, so I add 0.5 pt in this department.

Do I want another serving of this USN TRUST flapjack after the first one? If I looked only at the taste of it, I’d say ‘yes, please’.

However, as the front of this flapjack (I mean the flapjack itself) is impressive, that the back of it is not that good. Let’s have a look at macros first. A 70g flapjack has 272 kcal, 9.2g of fat, 34g of carbs and 14g of protein. So far so good. But that ingredients list… There are palm oil and golden syrup. Not too good.

Can it be a sustainable protein flapjack on the go? Nope.

A perfect flapjack from the front. But it could be much better from the back (of the packaging).

USN TRUST Protein Flapjack Cranberry & Blueberry Flavour

USN TRUST Protein Flapjack Cranberry & Blueberry Flavour has a potential. It smells lovely, it’s easy to eat, it tastes delicious and the overall feeling is impressive. However, it could be a bit more lean and have much better ingredients. Therefore, our score is what it is. Now you know what I mean, USN?

Will I ever go back to this USN flapjack? If I find myself in a mindset of ‘I don’t mind macros and ingredients at all’, then yes, I will. Otherwise, I’m not so sure about that. And it’s pretty similar to the other TRUST protein flapjack from this range, Cookie Flavour.
