Train Like a Badass

USN TRUST Cookie Flavour Protein Flapjack

It’s another protein snack with a ‘guilt free’ claim. So I politely ask: is it? And check it for you. Because somewhere there I know it may be ‘slightly’ exaggerated. And it is. Well…

Some protein treats makers (like Dr Zak with his protein cookies) think that eating their snacks make us feeling guilty. And it seems to be pretty silly, doesn’t it? Unless you eat five of them at once. Anyway, I see that this way. By making such a statement, a maker of a specific treat knows eating it will make you feel guilty. However, it wants you not to feel this way, so it says ‘no worries, it’s not the best for you, but feel guilty free anyway’. It’s rubbish, you know? But if USN says so, I will check it if it’s true.

USN TRUST Cookie Flavour Protein Flapjack

Do you like cookies flavour? Well, you’re not alone. But you won’t find that scent here. This protein flapjack doesn’t smell appealing. It lacks that cookie aroma, serving an overall sweet odour instead. Well, it’s not what we wanted here, right? It’s OK, but not too inviting indeed. This pretty soft flapjack is slightly chewy and somewhat tries to stick to the teeth. It’s nothing worrying, but a sip now and then may come in handy for some.

The taste of this flapjack is not bad.

There are oats, there are cookies, but this combination could be more intense. There are also biscuit crumbs and cocoa soya crisps inside that happily crunch. But their taste, both of them, disappears somewhere in an overall sweetness. In other words, they are there, but they don’t affect an overall taste experience. And yes, this flapjack should curb your cravings.

How about another serving after the first one? Well, I’m not sure. Or instead, I’m pretty sure one is OK for me. It’s not bad, but it’s nothing special either. And I’m not too guilty about that. So they were right.

From the macros perspective, it doesn’t look that bad either. A 70g flapjack has 276 kcal, 9.7g of fat, 34g of carbs (including 10g of sugar) and 14g of protein. However, the ingredients list is sooo looong and there are palm oil, partially inverted refiners syrup, partially inverted sugar syrup and glucose-fructose syrup. And no, natural flavourings won’t change anything much here.

Can it be a sustainable protein flapjack on the go? Nope, sorry.

Trust me, I’m a professional protein flapjack.

It’s another, after Chocolate Caramel flavour, USN TRUST flapjack I wouldn’t trust much. Although this one is sweet and not too bad when it comes to the taste, it’s still could be tastier and more enjoying. And it could be a bit better in this and that too. Overall, it’s really OK. However, there are many ‘really OK’ flapjacks out there and it’s still not enough to leave us fulfilled.

Will I ever go back to this protein flapjack? Not actually. There are many better options out there and cookie flavour is not the most desired one.
