TREK Peanut Power Wholefood Energy Bar

TREK Peanut Power Wholefood Energy Bar

‘Peanut Power’ in the name of this bar sounds like an imitation of Grenade Carb Killa bar with their fancy names. And this is not the only thing that is much different than it is in Grenades.

What am I talking about? Abut this: ‘Peanut Power’ vs ‘Peanut Nutter‘. And a bit less about this: ‘Cocoa Chaos‘ vs ‘Caramel Chaos‘. ‘Peanut Nutter’ and ‘Caramel Choas’ names come from Grenade bars and, what’s obvious, are a bit longer on the market. The other ones come from TREK energy bars, they’re are relatively fresh and they don’t sound good. They’re more like ‘copy and paste’ things and it’s not OK. Anyway, let’s have a look at another TREK wholefood energy bar, Peanut Power.

It looks like Peanut Power doesn’t have too much power when it comes to the scent of this energy bar. Instead of that, there’s a bit of dried fruits and a touch of oats aroma in the smell of this energy bar. It’s not bad, but it’s definitely not what is promised on its packaging. A tough on the outside, this bar is only softish on the inside. Therefore, some may find it not too comfortable to bite into it. A not too chewy bar is also not too sticky. However, it’s a bit crumbly. Anyway, it’s not a bad idea to have a sip while eating it.

Peanut (under)Power at its finest.

This Peanut Power bar has not much strength in its taste. If you expect to have a peanut butter flavoured bar, then it’s not the right address. You won’t find it here. Instead of that, there’s a taste of dried dates (33%) and a bit of salt. I guess that saltiness comes from peanut butter, that is 11% in it. But I wasn’t able to taste it much. And no, this energy bar is not bad. However, it’s not what it’s supposed to be. I mean, Peanut Power (flavour?). And last, but not least, this bar is nowhere to be a satisfying one.

Do I want another serving of this TREK energy bar after the first serving? Not much. It was not bad after all, but at the same time, it wasn’t what it’s supposed to be.

TREK Peanut Power Wholefood Energy Bar

The macros of this energy bar are pretty OK, but they’re not suitable for a proper energy bar. A 55g bar has 203 kcal, 6g of fat (a bit too much), 25.7g of carbs (a bit too little) and 10.2g of protein (a bit too much, again). What I liked much more than that, however, is the ingredients list. You won’t find any bad things here, as there’s no added sugar, no palm oil, no syrups. Well done, TREK.

Despite it, it’s definitely not the finest energy bar on the go.

Not bad, not Peanut Power.

TREK Peanut Power Wholefood Energy Bar

TREK Peanut Power Wholefood Energy Bar has not much power. It doesn’t taste like Peanut Butter anything, it doesn’t have great macros and it could be a bit more comfortable to eat. On the other hand, it has excellent ingredients, it doesn’t taste that bad and you won’t get choke while eating it. It’s 3:3. It’s a draw. It’s nothing to be desired. But sometimes, in some circumstances, that draw is not that bad.

Will I ever go back to this energy bar? I don’t think so. It’s not that bad, after all. And it has superb ingredients. And the latter one may be the reason I’ll get it one day again. Maaaybe.
