This is a bit confusing. This Proteinissimo Prime bar has really good macros and pretty good ingredients. However, it smells and tastes terrible. Simply bad. Too bad, as Scitec Nutrition can do better than that definitely.
How much better? Much better. And here’s the example of that. Proteinissimo Dark Chocolate Sensation. A genuinely sensational protein bar. And it tastes amazing. However, Proteinissimo Prime range of theirs turned out to be not the perfect one so far. We’ve already reviewed another flavour from this range, Peanut Butter. And, well, it’s also nothing spectacular, to be honest. And I’m afraid it’s going to be the same in this case, with Proteinissimo Prime Chocolate Vanilla Flavor.
Let’s start from the beginning. And this beginning is nothing to be found inviting. This protein bar smells bitterish. Significantly bitterish. OK, there’s a bit of sweetish touch in it, just a bit. But overall, it’s nothing you’d want to bite straight away. A pretty tough on the outside, this bar is somewhat softish on the inside. Although it’s not extremely comfortable to bite into, it’s still OK to say it shouldn’t be a problem for many to bite into it. However, it’s a bit chewy and sticky. But I can’t say anything bad about its moistness; it’s on the spot.
Would you like a bitterish protein snack? Neither would I.
This Proteinissimo Prime bar doesn’t taste good. Similarly to its fragrance, the bitterish aroma is significantly detectable in its flavour. There’s also a bit, just a bit of chocolate touch there. But for me, it’s definitely too bitterish. In other words, it’s far from even being acceptable in its taste. Obviously, it’s not sweet, not telling about satisfying. And this is one of the main flaws in this bar. Eventually, you buy a protein bar also to enjoy its flavour, right? Right. But there’s nothing to enjoy here, unfortunately.
Do I want another serving of this Proteinissimo Prime bar after the first one? Naaah, not at all. I ate one serving of it and it’s more than enough of bitterness for me. Thanks.
What is surprising in this bar is its macros. A 50g bar has only 186 kcal, 8.5g of fat, 14g of carbs (of which only 1.7g of sugar) and an OK-ish 16g of protein. Not bad. Too bad the nutritional info (except a highlight of it on the front of the packaging) is given for 100g of the product only. Therefore, -1 pt in this department. Anyway, the good info here is the ingredients list doesn’t contain added sugar, palm fat or syrup. But it contains natural flavourings. Nice.
The smell and the taste of this bar are just two reasons it’s not the finest protein bar on the go. Because I guess you’d want to enjoy your protein snack while out and about, right?
A Proteinissimo Prime bar that’s not in its prime.
Scitec Nutrition Proteinissimo Prime Chocolate Vanilla Flavor Protein Bar is not a good protein bar. It smells bad. It tastes bad. And that’s enough to say ‘stay away from it’. And that’s what I recommend. Even if you’ll see a pretty tempting ad of it (as its packaging is pretty aesthetic indeed).
Will I ever go back to this Proteinissimo Prime protein bar? Not actually. And I can say it for sure right now. Like I had any doubts about it…
