At a regular price of £1, this Pro2Go protein cookie is really cheap. But is it enough to attract anybody’s attention nowadays? I do think so.
Prices of protein treats seem to be crazy. They range from £1 to £2.50 and more for a single bar or cookie. And from that perspective, £1 for a big cookie seems to be a bargain. But actually, it’s not. In other words, you usually get what you pay for. I mean low price means poor taste, worse ingredients and/or exaggerated macros. Of course, there are some exceptions among protein bars, like SuperFit Protein Fresh Bar Cookies & Cream flavour or ASDA Sports Nutrition Cherry Yogurt flavour protein bar. But when it comes to protein cookies, it’s always like that (prove me wrong!). And that’s what it’s like with Pro2Go Double Choc Chip Protein Cookie too.
So what can you expect for £1 here? Well, not much when it comes to the smell of this protein cookie. There’s a bit of chocolate scent here, but it’s not possible to distinguish both of them. It’s rather sweet in its aroma, but there’s a bitterish sniff too. Therefore, it’s nothing inviting. Interestingly, this cookie is pretty thick, so it’s somewhat tough on the outside, at the same time being pretty thick inside. That texture shouldn’t be troublesome for many, but it’s not too much comfortable to eat either. This treat is a bit chewy and its crumbs slightly stick to the teeth. Therefore, a sip or two may come in handy.
In the matter of taste, you still need to remember it costs only £1. So do not expect any spectacular experience here.
It’s sweet, but not too sweet. There’s chocolate aroma in it, but again, most likely you won’t be able to distinguish both of them. And it’s bland. And it wouldn’t be so terrible at all. But that annoying bitter aftertaste ruins it all eventually. Therefore, forget about it as a sweet and satisfying protein cookie. It looks like you can’t expect anything like that for only £1. At least not here.
Eventually, one serving is enough for me and I’m definitely not fancy another one.
The price of this protein cookie reflects its macros too. A 75g treat has a staggering 303 kcal, a rather largish 9.6g of fat, a huuuge 30.5g of carbs (including only 4g of sugar) and a really nice 23g of protein. It’s not too good. It’s not better when you look at the ingredients list, as there are added sugar and palm fat.
The question regarding a ‘title of sustainable protein cookie on the go’ doesn’t make any sense here.
A high price of cheap protein cookie.
SCI-MX Nutrition Pro2Go Double Choc Chip Protein Cookie is one of the cheapest ones on the market. And it has its price – not satisfying taste, low-quality ingredients, poor macros. There are many aspects why this cookie costs so low. And I guess you won’t be too fancy experience it by yourself. Because, simply, it’s not worth it. Unless you are on a tight budget and you ‘need’ something sweet with an extra amount of protein.
Will I ever go back to this protein cookies? Not actually. Apart from everything else, this protein cookie is not too tasty. And that is good enough reason to skip it next time. And next time. And another one too.
