A protein Duo Bar with triple layers (of disappointments). It’s not that bad bar, but SCI-MX Nutrition could make it much better. If they only wanted to do that.
SCI-MX Nutrition is far from being a reliable protein treats maker. It has a wide range of products in its portfolio. They include totally rubbish ones, like Double Choc Chip Protein Cookie. And amazing ones, like Chocolate & Hazelnut Protein Cookie. And many, many average ones. And this Chocolate & Orange Duo Bar will join
It’s really hard to find anything good in the matter of smell of this SCI-MX Duo Bar. There’s a whiff of chocolate in it, but the orange smell is nowhere to be found here. A chocolate coating smells slightly sweetish. And according to my
I want to say something, anything good about the taste of it, but…
There’s a chocolate flavour in this bar pretty easily detectable. There’s also a bit of orange (peel, 0.5%). But these two flavours could be balanced slightly better. Going further, this Duo Bar is a Triple Bar in fact, as there’s a detectable bitterness in its flavour too. Besides that, this bar is sweet and it may be a proper sweet treat for some. But I’m 100% sure it won’t be satisfying one. Therefore, -0.5 pt in this department.
Do I want another Duo Bar of this taste after the first one? Nope. It was not too bad, it was somewhat OK, but there is a couple of much better choices on the market, like Fulfil Chocolate Orange flavour protein bar.
When it comes to macros, there’s nothing to talk about too much. A 60g bar has 221 kcal, 7g of fat, 22.1g of carbs (of which 10.9g of sugar) and 20g of protein. In a word: OK. The ingredients list, however, is definitely NOT OK. There are added sugar, palm fat, glucose syrup and glucose-fructose syrup.
The question regarding considering it the finest protein bar on the go is only a rhetoric question.
The bitterish truth about this bar: it’s a triple protein bar indeed.
SCI-MX Nutrition Pro2Go Chocolate & Orange Duo Bar is a triple bar in fact. There are chocolate and orange flavours. And a bitterish aftertaste too. And even if I wanted to tell anything positive about this bar, then it would be pretty difficult to do that. All of that because there’s nothing positive in it. And a lot of negatives, like the ingredients list. And let’s finish this review at this point.
Will I ever go back to this protein bar? Even if it’s the last bar on the shelf, then I won’t. Instead of that, I’d choose a banana and a pot of yoghurt.
P.S. There’s another (former) Duo Bar from this range, Strawberry & Cream flavour. And it’s much, much better than this one.
