Rich undoubtedly was one of the most charismatic bodybuilders ever. However, it’s pretty difficult to be the greatest fan of his bars. All of that they are… they have… well, there’s something specific and unique in them. And that something is their taste.
Do you remember Sweet Potato Pie RF BAR from Rich? We reviewed it a while ago and it turned out to be, well, not too exciting when it comes to its taste. Also, there was not much potato pie flavour in it. Therefore, it scored overall not too honourable 4.5/10 pts in our review. Oops. Still, somewhere there I hoped this Rich Piana The Carb Knock Out Keto Bar Double Dark Chocolate Chip would be at least a bit better than that. But, which is a real surprise to me, it’s not.
Double Dark Chocolate Chip sounds not too bad, right? But this keto bar smells nothing like that. Instead of that, its fragrance is all about sunflower oil. Hmm, not too inviting or exciting indeed. A pretty toughish on the outside, this bar seems to be pretty thick, but it’s somewhat crumbly and easy to bite into. It’s not chewy at all, but on the other hand, it’s heavily and annoyingly sticky. Add to that it’s slightly dryish and if you were wondering how to get glued by any protein bar, then you already have an answer. You’re welcome.
In a word? It’s a taste(less) knock out (Rich Piana bar).
How to start it mildly…? This protein (or keto) bar has two faces when it comes to its taste. One of them is the fact you can forget about anything chocolate-like in the taste of it. Another one, it tastes like a combination of sunflower oil and bitterness. Yes, I know, it’s pretty hard to make it real, but 5% Nutrition is not greenhorns on the market, right? So yes, they did that. And they did that so effectively this bar is not only not too good in the taste. I’d say it’s even slightly repellent in that matter. It’s knock out. It’s a real knock out for my taste buds. And my experience too. Well done, guys. Not.
Do I want another serving of this Rich Piana The Knock Out protein bar after the first one? Let me put it this way: do you have a time machine? Because I’d want to come back to the time right before I ate it and don’t do that. Could I put it more clearly?
Keto, keto. That doesn’t mean anything when it comes to protein bars. At least not that it has to be a dense caloric bar. And yet. A single Knockout Bar is 68g and it has a biggish 290 kcal, a colossal 21g of fat, 19g of carbs (including 4g of sugar) and an OK 20g of protein. The ingredients list contains added sugar.
Therefore, it can’t be the finest protein bar on the go. Knock out.
Does 5% stand for ‘only 5% of our greatest fan’ will like our bars?
This is a bit troublesome. Rich Piana 5% Nutrition The Carb Knock Out Double Dark Chocolate Chip Keto Bar is a unique bar. It’s not too comfortable to eat, it’s doubtfully tasty, it has not good macros and even worse ingredients. And the overall experience out of it is, well, not too worth remembering. What could be worse than that?
Will I ever go back to this Rich Piana protein keto bar? Do I need to answer this question?
