I had high hopes regarding this Raw Protein Bar from Pro2Go range. Unfortunately, it turned out to be like other raw bars – not too tasty, not too exciting and generally pretty disappointing.
Why disappointing? All because of Pecan & Caramel bar from this range. It was so delicious that if only every raw bar was like this one, then I’d swap to raw-only protein bars menu. Unfortunately, it looks like it was just one in a million raw protein bar, as the one I’m about to review, Beetroot & Chia flavour, is simply nothing special. Or even disappointing. That’s sad.
I got so exciting seeing this protein bar in a store. A bar with a taste of beetroot(!) and chia(!). How unusual is it? But once you realise beetroots are not the most aromatic vegetables out there, and that chia seeds are not better in this matter… And here it is: this protein bar is not too fragrant. Therefore, it’s not too exciting or inviting at all. It’s just OK and that’s it. What is worth noting is the fact it’s soft both on the outside and inside. It means there’s no problem with biting into it at all. Also, it’s virtually not chewy and barely sticky. And it has a slightly grainy texture. Anyway, many may be able to eat it without a sip.
This bar contains two not too flavourish flavours. As a result of that, it’s not too exciting in its taste.
I didn’t realise what to expect of this raw protein bar. However, once I realised beetroot and chia seeds are far from being aromatic… Well, it didn’t end up too good. There’s a noticeable pea protein aroma. And a bit of beetroot flavour. And that’s it. You know, pea protein and beetroot. And although it sounds pretty raw, at the same time, it’s far from being tasty. This protein bar is barely flavourish, not sweet at all and it won’t make its way as a sweet protein snack. Too bad, as I… was a bit wrong. I hoped it to be something exceptional, but it turned out it only looks interesting. And not much more than that.
Do I want another serving of this raw protein bar after the first one? I do not. This flavour sounds exciting, but it’s not like that in its taste at all. Therefore, one serving is enough for me.
Let’s have a look at its macros then. This 50g bar has only 196 kcal, 8g of fat, really good 14g of carbs (including 6.4g of sugar) and only 13 g of protein. These are average macros regarding raw protein bars. When it comes to the ingredients list, there are only natural ingredients and natural flavouring. Pretty nice.
Besides that, it can’t be the finest protein bar on the go.
Pretty raw, but still disappointing protein bar.
Pro2Go Raw Protein Bar Beetroot & Chia sounds sooo exciting. And although this bar looks exceptional, it’s comfortable to eat, and it has a great ingredients list, its taste is nothing special after all. And pretty good macros won’t change much here. Too bad, as I excepted much more than that.
Will I ever go back to this raw protein bar? Not actually. I had high hopes regarding it, but eventually, it turned out to be not such an exciting raw protein bar. Too bad, as it’s not the exception in this new Pro2Go range.
