Train Like a Badass

Premium Lux Protein Flapjack Mint Chocolate Chunk

Chocolate mint flavoured sweet treat. Oh, yeah! But until it’s tasty and well balanced, I won’t give it the green light. And it’s not too easy to make a proper blend out of these two. Premium Lux Protein Flapjack tries to do its best and the results are like these.

Chocolate and mint. These two are sooo classic. But at the same time, they are deceitful for makers. All of that, because combining them in only slightly wrong proportions makes the end effect not too exciting. At best. Make it a bit more clumsy and all you’ll get is more or less a disaster. And what we’ve got here is some kind of minor defeat.

Premium Lux Protein Flapjack Mint Chocolate Chunk

Firstly, the smell. It’s not bad, but we’ve got here a slip. A slip over the pot. All of that, because there’s much too much of mint scent over here. Yes, there’s chocolate aroma here as well, but I’d want it much more. Therefore, the smell of this flapjack could be balanced better. This somewhat softish snack is just slightly chewy and sticks to the teeth barely. And it’s a bit crumbly too. Overall, its texture is ok. Nothing too spectacular, nor anything wrong here. Let’s go further.

There are only a couple of chocolate mint protein snacks that are balanced well. And this flapjack is… is not one of them.

What we’ve got here is a mint that grabbed a majority of the flavour for itself. Hence, not much of it left for chocolate one. And it should, as there are chocolate chunks on the ingredients list. Anyway, instead of that, there is cocoa powder middlingly detectable here. That experience is slightly annoying and disappointing. That’s being said, this treat won’t make its way as a sweet protein snack. Too bad. And not too premium. Not mentioning lux.

Do I want another serving after the first one? Not actually. If I could choose, I would go for the sibling of this protein flapjack, a Chocolate Chunk flavour that is better than this one.

What about macros? It’s pretty good in this department, but again – it’s not all about the numbers. To make it clear, a 75g bar delivers 248 kcal, 4.2g of fat, 33.5g of carbs (of which only 3.5g of sugar) and a solid 20g of protein. Nice. The ingredients list that is not too long, is also free from palm oil (although there’s a vegetable one) and includes honey and natural peppermint flavour. I like it.

It was so close for this protein flapjack to get the title of ‘sustainable protein flapjack on the go’. But there’s still too much of calories in it. So no title here.

One step too far.

As I mentioned before, the chocolate and mint combination is pretty deceitful. One step too far is enough to ruin it. And that one step was made here. The taste of this protein flapjack is not bad per se, but it’s far from being well balanced. Not telling about being satisfying or pleasantly sweet. Therefore, for a protein flapjack fans, it’s not a must-eat position and they can feel free to skip it without any harm. However, if mint is your jam, then you must try it at least.

Will I ever go back to this protein flapjack? I don’t think so. It’s not the best chocolate mint protein treat out there. And life is too short to eat only good stuff. Unless you don’t have to test and review all of them. πŸ˜›
