PowerBar ProteinPlus Raspberry Yoghurt Flavour L-Carnitine Protein Bar

PowerBar ProteinPlus Raspberry Yoghurt Flavour L-Carnitine Bar

This modest protein bar is not a protein snack per se. But it turned out to be surprisingly tasty and really effective to stop our craving for sweet.

We’ve seen this many times. As simply, modest and inconspicuous something may be, it’s still more than enough to do the job. And that’s what it’s like here. A small, 35g PowerBar ProteinPlus Raspberry Yoghurt bar is one of the tastiest we’ve been reviewing so far. And although it’s not too ‘proteiny‘, it’s still good enough to trick our brain in case of a craving crisis. And that’s how it happened.

PowerBar ProteinPlus Strawberry Yoghurt Flavour L-Carnitine Bar

It doesn’t start spectacular, as the smell of this bar is ‘only’ very good. You know, it doesn’t seem to be too hard to make a bar that smells really good. And it does smell so. You can easily distinguish both flavours from the front of the package, i.e. raspberry and yoghurt. Add to that a white chocolate scent that comes from its coating layer and here it is – a really nice aroma that makes us want to bite into it. And it won’t be difficult, as this PowerBar ProteinPlus bar is pleasantly soft both outside and inside. It’s a nice change from all that toughy competitors. A barely noticeable sand-ish texture goes along with slightly chewy and hardly sticky to the teeth nature of this snack.

It’s nothing to be worried about, though, as its flavour rewards it with interest.

It offers an intense, pleasant raspberry and yoghurt flavour, adding to that pretty sweet white chocolate bite.

These flavours are well balanced, giving you a satisfying feeling of eating a decently sweet treat. And although you can find marzipan on the ingredients list, it’s scarcely notable here. Nevertheless, it’s a purely nice piece of pleasure indeed.

However, as we mentioned before, it’s not entirely ‘proteiny‘ sweet, as its macros are far from being so. Regardless of what you can find on the package. It goes like that: 138 kcal and just 4g of fat per 35g bar sound appealing, but there’s also as much as 19g of carbs (of which pretty large 13g of sugar) and a tiny 6.5g of protein. It doesn’t sound like a protein snack to us at all. And this also may be considered as misleading information on the package of this bar.

We also have some doubts when it comes to the ingredients list. All of that because there are some things we don’t like at all. Like glucose syrup (as the first ingredient!), fructose syrup and invert sugar syrup. And added sugar as well. It’s surely not what we’d like to have in a healthy snack.

Is this bar the finest protein bar on the go? Well, definitely not. But it may be a great companion to stop your sugar craving(s) now and then.

Forget about macros and ingredients, just enjoy it!

This PowerBar ProteinPlus Raspberry Yoghurt bar has only one flaw. Or maybe two. Ingredients. And macros, for some. But at the same time, it’s a great solution to nip your sweet craving in the bud. And although we’re all about making healthier food decisions, in this case, it may be too much for us and we will pull the trigger now and then.

Will we ever go back to this PowerBar Raspberry Youghurt bar? If we won’t find any with better ingredients (and maybe macros too) in the meantime, then yes. This one little snack is just too tasty to miss it. And it’s only 139 kcal. Well, we all are just humans after all, aren’t we?

P.S. Be careful and don’t confuse it with another ProteinPlus protein bar from PowerBar.
