PowerBar ProteinPlus Vanilla Coconut Flavour Protein Bar

PowerBar 30% Protein Plus Vanilla Coconut Flavour Protein Bar

This bar is so different from the other ProteinPlus bar we reviewed a while ago. And although it has a pretty unique flavour, it’s nothing interesting after all.

And there are many reasons for that. But before we get there… A while ago we reviewed another ProteinPlus bar from PowerBar, Raspberry Yoghurt Flavour. Although it’s not perfect, at the end of the day it turned out to be ‘very good’. And I’d like this PowerBar ProteinPlus Vanilla Coconut Flavour to be like that as well, but unfortunately, it’s not.

This bar is not even too fragrant. Of course, there’s a bit of coconut and vanilla aroma detectable, but they both could be much more intense. Therefore, it’s not too exciting. A pretty soft on the outside, this bar is also soft on the inside. And this means you should have not any problem with biting into it. However, this snack is somewhat chewy, but still not too sticky. But still, you should be able to eat this protein bar without a sip. It’s a good sign for sure.

ProteinPlus bar with BitternessPlus in its flavour.

This protein bar from PowerBar is not too tasty. The first thing you’ll taste after biting this bar is bitterness. And it’s nothing pleasant or anything you’d expect from it. Also, you will taste a bit of coconut and vanilla flavours (in this order), but again, they’re not too intense. Or appetising. The overall experience here is ruined by that bitter aroma. And despite this bar is somewhat sweetish, it’s not satisfying.

Therefore, after one serving of this PowerBar ProteinPlus bar, I say ‘that’s enough for me, thank you’.

The macros of this protein bar are nothing you’d like to see in a decently good protein snack. A 55g bar has only 191 kcal and 3.4g of fat. However, 20g of carbs contains 20g of sugar. And that 17g of protein won’t make it much better. The ingredients list is pretty short, but it contains added sugar and invert sugar syrup.

And I may be wrong here, but these reasons are pretty enough to say that it can’t be the finest protein bar on the go.

A bar with a FlavourMinus in it.

PowerBar ProteinPlus Vanilla Coconut Flavour Protein Bar

This PowerBar ProteinPlus Vanilla Coconut Flavour bar is not too spectacular. Although it’s easy to eat, I’m not sure I’d want to eat it again. Pretty mediocre macros and inferior ingredients list don’t make it easier. So if you skip it, then you shouldn’t lose too much.

Will I ever go back to this protein bar? No chances for that, as it doesn’t even have a clear flavour, not telling about good macros or ingredients. That means the verdict may be only this one: no, I won’t go back to this protein bar for sure.
