You most likely won’t find anything more surprising among vegan protein bars. This bar has an interesting flavour and not that bad macros. Is it the only exciting things in it? Nope, there is much more of it.
Chocolate, toffee and popcorn! As I can imagine many unusual flavours of protein bars, I have never thought that someone can make this combination. But that’s not the end. It’s vegan-friendly. And it’s loaded with fibre. And last, but not least, it tastes not that bad. Let’s have a look at what we can expect from this pretty new range of PhD SmartBars Plant Choc Toffee Popcorn.
This plant protein bar is surprising in terms of its smell. There are toffee and popcorn flavours easily detectable. However, there’s not much, I mean at all, of chocolate aroma. Anyway, this smell is so fresh I can forgive it. And it’s appetising and inviting. A somewhat softish on the outside bar is nicely soft and crunchy inside. Therefore, no problem with biting into it. It’s also not chewy at all and hardly sticky. Consequently, it’s comfortable to eat. And a slightly dryish. But that’s OK, as a sip may quickly sort it out.
Surprisingly interesting in taste. With many benefits.
This Choc Toffee Popcorn plant bar is not only good in taste. There’s popcorn with toffee nicely detectable, but there’s no chocolate to be found here. Also, there’s a bit of protein tasteable, but it’s not too strong and not too disturbing. That composition is not sweet, but somehow it’s pleasant and satisfying. It may be caused by its fresh, pretty unique composition and… that’s OK. And if you’re a fan of popcorn and toffee, then it’s something you should definitely give a try.
Am I fancy another serving of this PhD SmartBar Plant bar after the first one? Ummm, not actually. It was tasty, it was refreshing, but I was missing that chocolate flavour that could give it a sweet kick. Therefore, one serving is OK for me. And I’m delighted with it.
Let’s have a look at the macros of this PhD SmartBar Plant bar, as it’s somewhat exciting. OK, it has 259 kcal and 13g of fat, but it’s nothing unusual among plan protein bars. What is more interesting here, however, it has only 7.6g of carbs (yes!) and 2.4g of sugar! Also, it’s fibre rich with a substantial amount of 14g of it. And, of course, a plant-based protein content that at 21g per bar I can describe as pretty robust. Well done! The ingredient list is free from added sugar, palm oil or syrups.
Still, it’s not suitable for a title of the finest protein bar on the go. Sorry.
Bravely and surprisingly tasty plant protein bar. With benefits.
PhD SmartBar Plant Choc Toffee Popcorn protein bar is simply exciting. It has an unusual and unique flavour that tastes really good. It has robust macros with 14g of fibre and 21g of protein. It’s also low in carbs and sugar. And it’s comfortable to eat. In a word, there’s not much I could blame it for. Well done, PhD. You’re brave.
Will I ever go back to this PhD SmartBar plant protein bar? I will! It’s a tasty bar with a unique flavour. And it’s not too sweet, so it’s a good change for all those (over)sweet protein bars. Well worth to give it a try. And buy one or two of them for not only a rainy day.
