These two chocolate protein bars are badly decent. Not too bad, but at the same time not too extraordinary. In a word, they are boring as hell. And that’s what makes them just OK ones. How boring is it?
Whipped Bites are with us for a while. And I was a great fan of them a while ago. However, as I started trying more and more other bars, I realise there’s something more than them. And there is the effect of that – many bars are simply at least as good as them, like the ones from Dymatize, PhD or Proteinissimo. And that’s what we’ve got here as well. This Protein Whipped Bites Chocolate flavour Protein Bars from Optimum Nutrition are pretty good. But there are many competitors much better than that. Well, it happens.
These Whipped Bites smells good. Pretty good. Not exceptional or even very good. They have a pleasant and chocolate scent, but it’s not too intense or exciting. Despite that, they’re inviting. A pretty soft on the outside, these snacks are alike on the inside. Also, they are somewhat thick. But no worries, there’s no problem with biting into them. Every bite is a bit chewy and sticky, but not too dry. Therefore, when it comes to ease of eating, they’re just OK. Can you see a pattern here? Every aspect of them so far is OK, proper or correct, but none of them is exceptional. And the same applies to their flavour.
These Protein Whipped Bites taste good. Precisely good and nothing more.
These mini protein bars taste good. There’s a pleasant chocolate flavour in them easily detectable. It’s good, decently good and precisely intense. And nothing more than that. And that makes them boring as hell. You might be sure you won’t find anything exceptional in this taste. In other words, it’s OK-ish, two-dimensional, easy to taste and even easier to forget about. Boooring. Without any weird aroma or aftertaste. And even a barely detectable bitterish aftertaste in it shouldn’t make any difference here. It’s so ‘I don’t even care about it’ important. Well…
Do I want another serving of these Whipped Bites after the first one? I don’t think so. They’re good. They are pretty good. But at the same time, they’re sooo average, so boring.
Whipped Bites from Optimum Nutrition never were lean. And so these are. A single serving of two bites delivers 243 kcal, 8.2g of fat, 28g of carbs (including
And as 99% of the protein bars we reviewed, they are not the finest protein bars on the go. Well, am I the only that is not too stunned by it?
Good. Boringly good. And nothing more than that.
Optimum Nutrition Protein Whipped Bites Chocolate flavour Protein Bars are boring. Boring as hell. They are so proper, so correct that they make me nearly crying. They’re so average. They are good in so many aspects that when I see them, my brain wants to say ‘all right, good, neeext!’. Their ‘fun factor’ hovers somewhere near zero, similar to legendary rice and chicken – let’s eat it, let’s do it right, and let’s forget about it.
Will I ever go back to these Whipped Bites? Not actually. There are many other cheaper and equally ‘exciting’ things to do that doesn’t matter to me at all. Like watching weather forecast in Greenland or checking road traffic in Chongqing, China at the moment.
P.S. Did you know there are more than 20 universities in Chongqing?
