This flapjack is not a protein flapjack. But its packaging suggests it may be a healthy one. So you may catch yourself grabbing this giant thinking it’s a protein one. Like I did.
It happened once before. While buying snacks for testing, I grabbed Nutrend Flapjack Classic Oats & Nuts Chocolate + Almond Flavour. I thought it’s a protein one (thanks to my fav shop with a dolphin in the logo for that!), but eventually, it turned out to be just a huuuge, regular flapjack. And this is another flavour from this range. Is it going to be a better one?
Its smell may suggest that, as it has an intense and inviting aroma. There are apricots and the overall sweetness easily detectable, with a barely detectable pecan scent. Anyway, it’s pleasant. A nicely soft flapjack is surprisingly comfortable to eat, but it’s chewy and sticks to the teeth noticeable. Therefore, it may go much better with a sip or two now and then.
In the taste department, there’s not too bad. There is an apricot aroma combined with sweetness.
However, there’s much less of pecans flavour than I’d expect. Therefore, the taste of this flapjack could be better balanced. Also, there’s a bit of sourish bit in it too. And a slight touch of bitterness. So although this flapjack is nice and sweet, it won’t make its way as a satisfying and fulfilling treat.
Am I fancy another serving after the first one? With its 100g of weight per serving it may be a proper snack even for two. That’s why one serving is more than enough for me.
Well, 100g per serving means colossal macros. And that’s what we’ve got here. One flapjack has a whopping 421 kcal, 17.5g of fat, 57.4g of carbs (of which 23.8g of sugar) and a marginal 5.3g of protein. Hmm… On the ingredients list, there are added sugar, palm fat. glucose-fructose syrup, glucose syrup and… and the rest of the ingredients list is missing here.
So if I had to say whether this flapjack can be considered a sustainable protein flapjack on the go, then I w…
A colossal non-protein flapjack. What a fail…
All right, I bought Nutrend Flapjack Apricot + Pecan Flavour by mistake. But I couldn’t resist to put it through our assessment criteria. And you know what? It turned out it’s not that bad flapjack after all. It smells nice, taste not too bad, it’s comfortable to eat. And the overall experience is pretty OK. The only obvious thing I’m concerned about is its weight of 100g. It’s big. It’s colossal.

Let’s don’t talk about the ingredients, OK?
