A pretty big protein cookie that is not too stodgy, not too caloric and with pretty lean macros. Impossible? Well, probably. But Lenny & Larry found a solution to that problem.
How to have a cake (or cookie) and eat it too? It’s so simple. It’s enough to make a cookie of the size of two serving. And make the packaging of it suggesting one cookie is one serving. Eventually, 16g of protein or 10g of fibre sounds so attractive, right? But here’s the surprise – these numbers relate to two servings. In other words, one serving is half a cookie and it has half of the nutritional statements from the front of the packaging. Yep, Lenny & Larry’s know how to make it. Too bad their other protein cookies I reviewed recently, Birthday Cake and Choc-O-Mint, are the same. On a par with Lenny & Larry’s The Complete Cookie Snickerdoodle I’m about to review right now. Heh.
First impression? Impressive. This cookie smells really good. A Snickerdoodle flavour is easily detectable and it’s inviting. A soft on the both, outside and inside, this cookie is comfortable to eat. Therefore, you shouldn’t have any problem to bite into it. A pretty chewy and sticky cookie is slightly dryish too. So some may say they won’t touch it without a sip. And that’s OK.
This taste is really good. I can’t believe it comes from Lenny & Larry’s.
This protein cookie has a nice and pleasant taste. Snickerdoodle flavour is easily detectable and somewhat intense. I wouldn’t mind, however, if it would be a bit more flavourish. Anyway, it’s pretty OK. Also, this cookie is sweet, but not oversweet. And for many, it may be a satisfying snack too. Oh, there’s no weird aroma or aftertaste, which is good.
Do I want another serving of this Lenny & Larry’s protein cookie after the first one? Not actually. Although it was tasty and not too stodgy, one serving is OK for me. All of that because of its macros.
Forget about 16g of protein and 10g of fibre in one serving. These numbers are valid for two servings and it’s not too fair. Also, one serving is half a cookie. Could it be even more obscured? Anyway, one serving, which is half a cookie, has 200 kcal, 7g of fat, 29g of carbs (including 11g of sugar) and only 8g of protein. Well, it could be better. And the ingredients list isn’t too nice, too, as there is cane sugar, palm oil and invert sugar in it.
This definitely is not the finest protein cookie on the go. So go away, Lenny & Larry’s.
Masters of obscure are back.
Big macros, inferior ingredients pretty good taste – this is what Lenny & Larry’s The Complete Cookie Snickerdoodle is. And for me, it doesn’t sound like anything complete. Therefore, to sum it up briefly, it’s not the best choice if you’re looking for a treat in this taste.
Will I ever go back to this protein cookie? Well, I won’t. Life’s too short to eat only an OK (protein) treats. And I don’t like the way they pack their cookies (one cookie = two servings).
