This is a pretty tasty protein ice cream. However, it lacks intensity. And there are no peanut butter cups inside at all.
Protein ice creams are not perfect. They lack these exaggerated macros we know from regular ice cream which is good. However, at the same time, they often lack that deep, intense and sweet taste too. Not all of them, like another HALO TOP ice cream, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, but still. There are more chances of missing something extra than having too much of something else. If you know what I mean. And this HALO TOP Peanut Butter Cup protein ice cream is like that. It misses this. And that. And what are these?
This ice cream is not too tough while taking it out of the freezer. However, it’s better to give it a minute or free to rest and get the most of its flavour. Or just use a microwave oven (800W) set for 15 seconds. This works wonders. Anyway, let’s get to the point.
This snack tastes good, but it lacks this and that.
All right, this ice cream tastes like peanut butter cups. Or rather Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. In other words, there’s peanut butter flavour with an extra layer of petty sweetness. There are also peanut pieces in it. And everything could be great here if only this ice cream wouldn’t be a bit watery. As a result of that, its taste is not too intense and not too sweet. It’s a bit disappointing. Also, there’s another thing that distinguishes it from regular ice creams of this flavour, let’s say Ben & Jerry’s one. And I mean… peanut butter cups. Yep, peanut butter cups. Well…
I ate half a tub and… it’s enough for me. However, Kaz was able to eat an entire tub easily. Therefore, the final score in this department is in between of our experience.
The macros of this HALO TOP protein ice cream are pretty good. Half a tub is 160 kcal, only 6.6g of fat, 28g of carbs (including 11.8g of sugar) and a pretty rounded and not too lousy 10g of protein. The ingredients list contains sugar and cane sugar.
A peanut butter cup ice cream without peanut butter cups.
This HALO TOP Peanut Butter Cup Protein Ice Cream is not too bad. It tastes OK, it has good macros and… that’s it. What we were missing here was peanut butter cups itself in it. But if they were there, I assume it would significantly affect its macros. It’s a lose-lose proposition, captain.
Will I ever go back to this protein ice cream? I don’t think so, as it was just OK, even considering it’s still a protein ice cream. On the other side, Kaz may go back to it, but only while on offer.
