Grenade Carb Killa Banana Armour High Protein Bar

Grenade Carb Killa Banana Armour High Protein Bar

This armour is not bad, but it won’t protect this protein bar against our grading. And more than being a desired protein snack, it slipped on a banana peel. And it scored pretty low after all.

We believe Grenade Carb Killa protein bars are equivalent of well-known and supposedly legendary Quest Bars (here’s the review of first of them, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Flavour). Sort of. They are available in many places. And they are these bars people are talking about. Jump into any fitness supplements related talk and you may be nearly sure the friendly dispute on Grenades Carb Killa bars will explode sooner or later. Just joking.

Grenade Carb Killa Banana Armour High Protein Bar

Slightly more seriously speaking, that’s how it is. Quest Bars are supposedly the best protein bars on the market. Or at least the most famed. But not available in many brick and mortar stores. On the other hand, Grenades are highly available in stores, gyms or vending machines. Therefore, we believe, our perception of them seems to be pretty reasonable.

All right, so what about that Banana Armour? Its smell is not perfect.

There’s a load of chocolate and just a bit of banana. Some may also detect a tiny bit of bitterness in it. Anyway, it lacks intensity and it’s not too appealing. A bit toughish on the outside, this bar is pretty soft inside, making eat comfortable enough to bite into and chew. A scarcely chewy and hardly sticky bar is not too dry, but some may need a bit of sip now and then.

This taste is nothing special. Well… It starts not bad, as the bar is pretty creamy indeed. Firstly, there’s a load of (dried) banana and chocolate flavour. But after a moment, all of a sudden, a disturbing bitterness attacks. It’s not able to cover themed aroma, but it’s there, pretty detectable, staying with you after the last bite. Thanks to that it’s far from being tasty. It’s more like it’d slip on a banana slip. Nothing to be fascinated here.

Do we want another serving after the first one? Hmm… Dried banana with detectable bitterness? No, thank you.

Looking at the macros we are nearly sure it’s not too armoured bar. In a 60g bar, there’s 217 kcal, 8.3g of fat, 14.8g of carbs (and only 2g of sugar) and a decent 22.7g of protein. Not yager either. The ingredients list look pretty nice, though. It’s not too short, but there’s no added sugar, no palm oil, no any syrup. BOOM!

Can it be a sustainable protein bar on the go? Not actually, as there’s a bit too many calories, fat and carbs.

Slipped on a banana peel

We expected Grenade Carb Killa Banana Armour High Protein Bar(!) to be much tastier than it was. Like more chocolate and banana, nothing else. Instead of that, we got a protein bar with an extra bitter taste. And it’s definitely not necessary here. Hence, it didn’t stop us here and we just smashed it with our scoring. Oops.

Will we ever go back to that protein bar? We’d like to, but there’s nothing to come back to. Same as here.
