This is a flapjack for Lemon Meringue flavour lovers. For forgetful ones. As it tastes a bit like it was baked not yesterday, but a couple of days ago.
Right on cue! Recently I was reviewed very first protein bar with Lemon Meringue flavour, from MyProtein. And it turned out to be not that bad after all. Anyway, I was slightly disappointed there are not many protein snacks of this flavour out there. And here it is, CNP Pro Flapjack Lemon Meringue Flavour protein flapjack. A not bad option for those preferring protein flapjacks to protein bars.
Once you unwrap it, you may be surprised by its scent. It’s nothing too close to the Lemon Meringue. Instead of that, it smells like a shop-soiled cake, baked a couple of days ago. It’s thick and seems to smell like a wet snack. But still, it has a sweetish aroma. And more than inviting, this flapjack is rather not discouraging. You can call it a little success here. This not so soft (but not too tough either) flapjack is slightly chewy and sticks to the teeth. To bite into it you might need to bite it a bit tighter, but it’s nothing you should be struggling with. The flapjack itself is a bit crumbly and dryish. And it won’t be wrong to have a sip or two now and there.
Going further, it may be a bit surprising, but this flapjack tastes pretty lovely. Although you can easily detect that specific taste of the wet and shop-soiled treat.
If you don’t mind it, then you may like its somewhat intense Lemon Meringue taste. It’s easily detectable and nice, making that snack pleasantly sweet, but not oversweet. And that lemon bit adds a bit of refreshing kick to it. Nice, nice. For many, this snack may be not too satisfying, but fans of that taste should be contented. And last, but not least – don’t bother white chocolate here, as it’s not detectable virtually at all.
Do I want another serving after the first one? Nearly! It was so close to that, but I’ll skip it. It was a cute and sweet snack, but it didn’t make my taste buds exploded.
It’s not too bad when it comes to macros of this protein flapjack too. A 75g treat has a slightly largish 271 kcal, but only 6.9g of fat. A reasonably 39g of carbs including
Shop-soiled Lemon Meringue. Because you don’t have to eat a whole cake at once.
CNP Pro Flapjack Lemon Meringue Flavour protein flapjack is an excellent option for the lovers of this flavour. And those that don’t mind eating a cake that is two, three or four days old (I’m not among them). They will find it tasty, pretty sweet and satisfying. For others, it may not be the best option. However, if you’re not a lemon hater, then I suggest you give it a try either. Because why not?
Will I ever go back to this protein flapjack? Chances are I will, someday. It’s not too bad protein flapjack after all (the same like Chocolate Orange flavour), but it could be slightly more friendly when it comes to eating it. And less crumbly.
P.S. There’s a new version of this protein flapjack from CNP and we’ve already reviewed it.
