It is ‘lovingly baked in Wales’. This protein flapjack is the first Brynmar flapjack in our reviews. And I’m glad I have finally found a flapjack with that traditional, sweet top layer. As there are not many of them out there.
I’m sure you know these tasty flapjacks from petrol stations. Many of them have that tasty and decently sweet top coating. And they’re full of fat and carbs. And that’s what pretty often puts me off. Anyway, I wasn’t able to find anything similar to that in a protein flapjacks world. Until now. This Brynmor Flapjack Protein Salted Caramel is like that. And I liked it.
Usually, I would say an oaty fragrance isn’t anything most desirable in protein flapjacks. But in this case, I really liked it. And although there’s not much Salted Caramel whiff in it, it turned out to be pretty pleasant and inviting. A quite softish flapjack is pretty comfortable to bite into it. It’s also virtually not chewy at all and just slightly sticky. Also, it’s noticeably crumbly. However, it doesn’t affect the overall experience too much.
Oats flavour, then Salted Caramel flavour. Let it be.
The first bite of this protein flapjack is not spectacular. All you’ll taste then is oats flavour. And to experience some sweetness of Salted Caramel flavour, you’ll have to wait a moment for that. It’s not the finest option, but hey, Salted Caramel is there anyway. This flavour is a bit salty, however, it nicely harmonises with a somewhat sweet top layer. It makes this flapjack sweet and a bit salty at the same time. And it’s charming. This protein flapjack will make its way as a sweet protein snack. And it may be satisfying one for many.
Do I want another serving of this Brynmor Protein Flapjack after the first one? If I had to answer this question considering only its taste, then I would say ‘yes, I want’. However, the thing that doesn’t convince me that are its ingredients.
And the ingredients are not much top notch in this protein flapjack. They contain added sugar, palm oil, brown rice syrup and golden syrup. No too lovingly. Other than that, a 52g flapjack has not too bad 224 kcal, 8.6g of fat, 26.1g of carbs and a modest 10g of protein. Not too bad, isn’t it?
It is. However, it can’t be the finest protein flapjack on the go, definitely.
Not that bad snack. And it’s lovingly baked in Wales.
I love Wales. I love flapjacks. And this Brynmor protein flapjack Salted Caramel tries to put it together. And it was pretty close to do that. This flapjack is easy to eat, tasty, it has not bad macros and I’d be ready to eat more than one serving of it at once. However, what put me off here were its ingredients.
And these ingredients are the ONLY reason I will not go back to this Brynmor protein flapjack in the future. Sorry.
