This is the first Battle Oats protein cookie in our reviews. And there’s not so good news for it. It didn’t score too high. And I wouldn’t recommend it.
Battle Oats is a pretty young protein snacks maker. However, we already reviewed some snack from them. And you know what? None of them turned out to be too exciting or spectacular. And the same situation is with this one containing only 10g of protein, Battle Oats Protein Cookie Double Chocolate.
More oats than chocolate scent. This is how I’d sum up the smell of this protein cookie. It’s not too bad, for sure, but this aroma could be more balanced. And that lack of it makes it not too encouraging. Anyway, a pretty tough on the outside, this protein cookie is only softish on the inside. It means there’s not much trouble with biting into it. The good thing here is it’s not chewy at all, but it’s definitely sticky. Therefore, be ready to have a sip while eating it.
Double chocolate and a double win in this Battle.
What was pretty surprising, the flavour of this protein cookie is pretty flavourish and chocolatey. This protein snack promises to have the flavour of double chocolate, chocolate flavour chips(!) and cocoa powder. And these are easily detectable. It’s not that they’re spectacular or significant. But still, they’re pleasant and tasty. And everything would be here pretty good if it only hasn’t that bitterish aroma too. It’s not too strong, but noticeable. And it affects the taste of this protein cookie a bit.
Do I want another serving of this Battle Oats protein cookie after the first one? Not much. It wasn’t bad and it was somewhat tasty. But at the same time, it wasn’t spectacular or significant. Therefore, one serving is enough for me.
When it comes to macros, it’s nothing special here. A 60g cookie has 236 kcal (not bad), 9.6g of fat, 22.8g of carbs (of which 9.6g of sugar) and a modest 10.2g of protein. Can we call it a protein cookie then? The ingredients list also could be ‘a bit’ better, as there are sugar and palm fat in it too.
And the question of whether it can or can’t be the finest protein cookie on the go is not the most appropriate here. It can’t.
Nice flavour, but it’s not enough.
Battle Oats Protein Cookie Double Chocolate tastes not too bad. Either perfect. But there are a couple of other things that make it a quick and single date. Like its macros or ingredients. And let’s leave it like that, one serving is more than enough. Even for chocolate lovers.
Will I ever go back to this protein cookie? I may be a bit blasé, but I won’t. I expected here something (or even much?) more than I got. So no, I won’t go back to it and this is our last meet, I guess. Even considering Double Chocolate flavour is better than ‘single’ Chocolate Chip from this range.
