These protein bites are a pretty good alternative to a real carrot cake. However, to be sure you have a similar experience, you’ll need to get rid of these carrot-shaped sprinkles covering it.
More and more protein snacks are coming in flavours we know from traditional desserts, usually cakes. It’s nothing unusual nowadays to have a protein treats that taste like a Lemon Meringue cake, Cherry Bakewell tart, Red Velvet cake, Fruit Cake and so on. One of the few we still missed was (Frosted) Carrot Cake. And it looks like that Battle Bites with their 2 Protein Pieces Frosted Carrot Cake tries to fill that gap. And honestly, they do that pretty well.
It doesn’t disappoint us straight from the start. These protein bites smell pretty nice with a carrot cake aroma. It’s pleasant, but not too intense. But they are still inviting. What is also pretty similar to the carrot cake, is their texture. They’re really soft both on the outside and inside. It means no problem with biting into them and chewing. Primarily, they’re barely chewy and hardly sticky. Also, their moist is perfect. Therefore, it’s an excellent introduction to have a pretty pleasant experience with this snack.
It really tastes like THAT cake. Yay!
These protein bites are a real carrot cake squares in your pocket. They taste like a carrot cake indeed. Although I wouldn’t mind they have a slightly more intense flavour. Also, they’re decently sweet thanks to a caramel layer under the white chocolate (unfortunately) flavoured coating. But still, they’re not oversweet. Therefore, these squares are satisfying ones. Are they perfect then? Nearly, as these charming carrot-shaped sprinkles seem to be way too tough, affecting the overall experience.
Do I want another serving of two pieces of these frosted carrot cake protein pieces after the first ones? If it was all about the taste, then I would undoubtedly say ‘sure, I want’. However, these lovely, but not too comfortable to eat sprinkles, made one serving really OK for me.
When it comes to macros, these protein pieces are pretty good in that. One serving of two pieces has 220 kcal, 8.1g of fat, a pretty reasonable 16g of carbs (including only 2.9g of sugar) and 20.5g of protein. Really nice. But it’s not so perfect when you’ll look at the ingredients list. It contains added sugar and palm oil. And it’s nothing to be praised here.
Added sugar and palm oil on the ingredients list means it can’t be the finest protein bar on the go. Too bad, as aside from that these bites are decently good.
A Frosted Carrot Cake on the go is here.
If you were looking for a carrot cake substitute you could always have in your pocket, then look no further.
Will I ever go back to this 2 Protein Bites Carrot Cake? Although I don’t like their ingredients and those carrot-shaped sprinkles, there are chances for that. As other than that, they are pretty impressive protein snacks.
