Much better than the other Barebell protein bar. But still, I’m not sure if it’s top notch. Eventually, many other protein bars are much better than this one.
After the latest review of Barebell protein bar, White Chocolate Almond, I believed this range might have something better than that. And it has. A Caramel Cashew protein bar that is much better in taste. And it has a better ingredients list. But still, I’m not too sure it’s worth to go back to. Why? This is an answer.
What is pretty surprising in this bar, it has an inviting smell. There are both flavours from the front of the packaging easily detectable, Caramel and Cashew. It also has a sweet and appetising aroma and it’s not so easy to stay away from this protein bar. And it won’t be too difficult to bite into it, as it’s pretty soft on both, outside and inside. However, keep in mind its filling is a bit toughish than its top layer. But still, it’s easy to eat, easy to indulge. Moreover, this protein bar is somewhat chewy and only a bit sticky. Therefore, sipping while eating it is not a bad idea.
much cashew in this bar.
This protein bar is surprising. All right, there’s a lot of caramel in the taste of this bar. And I think there’s too much of that. All of that, because there was not much space left for cashew. They are virtually not detectable at all. Instead of that, there’s sweet milk chocolate in it. And these both, caramel and milk chocolate, make this protein bar pleasant and decently sweet (but still, not too sweet). Too bad there’s not much, virtually not at all, cashew in the taste of this bar. So it means its flavour could be better balanced (-0.5 pt in this department). Overall, this protein bar is lovely sweet and tasty, and it will make its way as a sweet protein snack. However, I’m not sure it may be a satisfying one.
Do I want another serving of this Barebell Caramel Cashew protein bar after the first one? I’d want that. However, what I was missing here was a cashew flavour. And that palm oil in the ingredients list…
When it comes to macros, they are decently good. A single bar (55g) delivers only 199 kcal, 8.3g of fat, a tiny 14g of carbs (including just 1.7g of sugar) and a solid amount of 20g of protein. Pretty good. However, the ingredients list contains palm oil. Too bad.
Therefore, it can’t be the finest protein bar on the go.
A caramel cashew snack without cashew flavour. That’s interesting.
All right, this happens too often. A solidly good protein bar turns out to be not so perfect because of just two aspects. Its flavour that is pretty good, but not perfect. And the ingredients, usually due to the presence of palm oil. And this is what we’ve got over here, with Barelells Caramel Cashew protein bar. And we recently saw in Oatein Dark Choc Brownie protein bar too. Anyway, these two aspects are the reason why I’m not sure I’ll go back to this protein bar.
So the final question is: will I ever go back to this Barebell protein bar? I’m afraid I’m pretty closer to say ‘I will NOT’ than ‘I will’. And the reason for that is if I buy something with cashew flavour, I’d like to get it. But I don’t here. And also that palm oil in the ingredients… So no, I will NOT go back to this protein bar, although it’s not bad in its taste.
