ASDA Cookie Dough Protein Ice Cream

They’re not proper protein ice creams. But at the same time, they are. But what’s more interesting here is they’re delicious. Nearly as much as a regular Cookie Dough ice creams.

This is another Cookie Dough flavoured Ice Cream reviewed by us. Recently we created a new category of reviewed products, protein ice creams. And so far we checked for you two of this flavour, one from Morrisons and one from famous HALO TOP. They were not so bad, especially the latter, but here’s the contestant that goes nearly on the top of them. And it’s from ASDA’s own brand. How surprising is it?

ASDA Cookie Dough Ice Cream

ASDA Cookie Dough Ice Cream – in contrast to Birthday Cake flavour fron this range – is pretty tough right after pulling them out of the freezer. And that’s OK, as eventually, these are ice creams, right? So before you start indulging yourself, it’s better to give them a bit of time to defrost. So while you do that, the only thing you have to do is to resist before digging into them. All of that because…

…these ice cream are brilliant! Their taste is nearly on a par with regular ice cream.

Why nearly? Because the only unpleasant thing you may experience here is the very first bite of them. It’s a bit weird, like a composition of strong vanilla flavour and protein powder. But that’s what happens only once. Starting the second bite that weird taste is gone and you can fully enjoy Cookie Dough ice cream. Because there’s a lot of things you can enjoy here.

The second bite and taste of this ASDA protein Cookie Dough ice cream is delicious. There’s a lot of vanilla and cookie dough flavours easily detectable. Both are flavourish, decently sweet and palatable. There’s no weird aroma or aftertaste here. And although there are not many cookie dough pieces (6%) and chocolate pieces (5%), the overall taste is lovely indeed.

I ate half a tube. Then I ate another half of it. And you know what? I wouldn’t have a problem with eating a bit more of them. Therefore, yes, I want more of them!

ASDA Cookie Dough Ice Cream

A quick look at the macros says these ice creams are pretty caloric. But still pretty lean. Half a tube is 199 kcal (approx. 20 kcal more than HALO TOP has), there is 6.7g of fat (+0.5g), 25g of carbs (-9g) including 21g (+6g) of sugar and a decent 8.9g (-0.3g) of protein. Not bad, considering these are not a protein ice cream per se but ice cream ‘rich in protein’. However, the ingredients list contains added sugar and rice syrup. Could be much better.

A surprisingly good protein ice cream. Nearly as good as HALO TOP!

ASDA Cookie Dough Ice Cream

ASDA Protein Cookie Dough Ice Cream is surprisingly tasty and delicious. Although they are just a slightly more caloric than contestants, at the same time they are sweeter and tastier. And it’s pretty easy to forget oneself and eat the whole tub in one sitting. So be aware! Especially they cost only £2.50!

Will I ever go back to this ice cream? I will! They are sweet, they’re tasty and they have pretty good macros. And they cost only £2.50. All of that (and even more) sounds like a not bad beginning of the summer, doesn’t it?

P.S. ASDA knows how to make delicious protein ice cream and their another flavour, Vanilla, proves it right.
