SiS GO Energy+Protein Bar Apple & Blackcurrant

Misleading taste on the package and overall experience that’s not too good. But this bar still has some advantages. Although it’s nothing we can recommend. In spite of that, it scored not bad 5.8/10 pts. Can you see that inconsistent here?

We can. And honestly? We don’t like it. If you want to be a good bar? Be it. If you want to be a bad one? Carry on. But please, don’t stay in the middle. Because there’s nothing more annoying than food that isn’t good. And this one is not good. And at the same time, it’s bad. And a bit of something in between. That’s what it’s like with SiS GO Energy+Protein Bar Apple & Blackcurrant.

In between. The smell. Both Apple and Blackcurrant scents are detectable, but they could be more intense. Much more. That’s why this bar is not too appealing. Pretty tough outside is nicely soft inside, what makes it pretty comfortable to bite into, chew and eat. It’s also slightly chewy, trying to stick to your teeth barely. On the other side, you shouldn’t need any sip on the way down.

The bad. The Taste.

What taste would you expect from an Apple & Blackcurrant bar? Silly question? We don’t think so. All of that, because we won’t find much apple and blackcurrant here. OK, there’s some of them, but there’s also a bit of mint flavour too. A bit more, actually. A bit too more, we would say. How come? We don’t know. But that’s the fact: this bar tastes much more like a mint bar with an Apple & Blackcurrant tinge. And that’s definitely not what we’d expect here, right?

There’s nothing more annoying than food that isn’t good.

Do we want another serving after the first one? Nope. It wasn’t supposed to be a mint bar after all, right?

The good. Ingredients list. It’s not too long (and not short either). But it doesn’t contain added sugar, palm fat or any syrup. All the sugar most likely comes from dried fruits and that’s really ok. We like it.

In between. Macros. A 60g bar has only 199 kcal, 1.5g of fat, a biggish 35g of carbs (including 18g of naturally occurring sugar) and a modest 10g of protein. It’s not bad, but there are too much of carbs (it’s not energy bar per se!) and too little of protein (could be at least 15g).

Sustainable bar on the go? Not this one, not this time. Sorry.

Overall experience? Somewhere in between

As you can see, this bar scored not bad 5.8/10 pts. But it was achieved only by a specific criterion, that raised it too high. So don’t look for any consistency here. Good ingredients, baddish taste and everything else in between. Hence, it’s hard to recommend anything like that to anybody. So we won’t.

Will we ever go back to this bar? Naaah, we don’t think so. It’s just an average bar. And we don’t like ordinary things at all.
