Bounty Protein Flapjack

Bounty Protein Flapjack

This is a shocking combo. If Bounty Protein’s specific taste is not enough for you, then you have to try Bounty Protein Flapjack. It’s a new level of discouraging people from this particular brand.

Pako seems to be the biggest fan of Bounty bar in the UK. And one from that large group of 7 people in the UK loving Bounty bar. The regular one. And although some say it tastes like a bar of soap, he could eat that soap… ekhm… he could eat that chocolate bar with no end. Respect to him. He also ate Bounty Protein bar and he says it’s far from being at least half the taste of the original one. But no worries. There’s another bar in Bounty family, Protein Flapjack one, that elevates the coconut experience to the whole new level. It’s doing so by adding a bit of oat to that combination. Ladies and gentleman, this is Bounty Protein Flapjack.

Bounty Protein Flapjack

OMG, that escalated quickly. Nearly every chocolate bar related brand wants not only to have a protein bar in their offer. They go further and make a protein flapjacks too. And besides some adorable results of that, like PhD SmartJack Apple Crumble Flapjack, many of them just fail. It’s not too hard to find them, just buy any of them. Or two or three. You may be nearly sure at least one of them will be simply bad. Not too tasty, with weird taste. Like Battle Oats Cherry Bakewell Protein Flapjack.

Anyway, coming back to Bounty Protein Flapjack. It’s a flapjack bar (made of oats, of course) consisting of desiccated coconut and covered in milk chocolate.

The thing is, its smell is not exciting..

There is coconut scent detectable, but that’s it – there’s no chocolate nor oat scent. It’s not getting better further, as this bar is simply tough. So it may be difficult for some to bite into it. And chew it too. It’s not getting after that, as it slightly tries to stick to your teeth. On top of that, it’s pretty dryish, so don’t approach it without a sip of water aside. Oops, so many ‘buts’…

Talking about its taste… Considering Pako is a great fan of Bounty, he says… well… let’s put it this way: he doesn’t look like being too happy about it. Oh dear… There’s a lot of specific, bitterish taste of coconut (now you know why Bounty is not the most popular chocolate bar, right?) and not too much of milk chocolate. Also, there’s easily detectable bitterness too. Therefore, that combination makes it even more specific than a Bounty Protein bar (not talking about regular one). And we guess it may be a challenging experience even for greatest Bounty fans. So in a short: not tasty and bitterish bar that definitely won’t make its way as a sweet treat. At the end of the day it’s not satisfying at all. Even for Bounty lovers. Could it be worst?

Do we want another serving after the first one? Don’t look at Kaz to find the answer to that question. And even Pako says: definitely not.

Forget the taste. Maybe macros are the strong point of this bar? Who knows? We do know. With a 218 kcal per 60g bar, 6.8g of fat, 23g of carbs (of which 6.4g of sugar) and 16g of protein it’s nothing bad actually. However, palm fat in ingredients list doesn’t make it better.

So asking whether it could be a sustainable protein flapjack on the go doesn’t make any sense here. Because it couldn’t happen for sure.

Bounty Protein Flapjack. Good, bad and the worst

Bounty Protein Flapjack isn’t anything you should try. Seriously. Even if you are the greatest fan of regular Bounty bar. Unless you loved Bounty Protein and it’s your must-have treat every day. But we don’t think you did. However, if you did (we don’t believe it anyway!), if you ever did, then Bounty Protein Flapjack is even worse than this one. But hey, it’s not too expensive. At least when considering it will show you what a combination of bitterish desiccated coconut, tasteless milk chocolate and oat can be. Good luck!

Will we ever go back to this protein flapjack? Heh, not even for free. We think it’s a high time to create some kind of protein food blacklist? And if we do, it may be one of the first bars we will put it on.
