Battle Oats Cherry Bakewell Protein Flapjack

Battle Oats Cherry Bakewell Protein Flapjack

Oh, Cherry Bakewell flavour! You know how to make our day! This is the taste that can make all of our concerns and sorrows vanished straight away. But we’re afraid not this time.

Cherry Bakewell is one of Kaz’s favourite treat flavour. Beside roughly 25 others, including white chocolate, peanut butter, raspberry, salted caramel anything and… But seriously, it’s enough to say ‘cherry bakewell’ and her eyes start to shine.

Battle Oats Cherry Bakewell Protein Flapjack

And that’s exactly what happened when she smelled Battle Oats Cherry Bakewell Protein Flapjack. She was so excited she couldn’t wait to bite into it. And there’s no surprise, as this flapjack’s aroma is just superb! It has a beautiful scent with baked cherry whiff easily detectable. It’s lovely, pretty strong and appetising. However, this treat is barely chewy and hardly tries to stick to your teeth. Also, it’s somewhat dryish and crispy. It’s not the best combo after all.

Unfortunately, its taste is nothing you waited for after that lovely smell.

OK, so more than cherry bakewell aroma you’ll experience bitter taste. A theme flavour is noticeable, but it definitely lacks intensity. And even if you’re fortunate enough to bite a dried cherry, it doesn’t change an overall feeling. This protein flapjack is simply not too tasty, bitterish and can’t make its way as a sweet snack. In spite of having white chocolate chunks on the surface. Too bad, as it was sooo promising.

This flapjack’s aroma is just superb!

Do we want another serving after all? Let us put that this way: if we were served with cherry bakewell cake tasting THIS, it could be our last visit to that place. Even if it was our friend’s place (just joking).

What about macros? It’s nothing special here, as a 50g protein flapjack has 268 kcal, 9.8g of fat, 28.7g of carbs (including 8.4g of sugar), a solid 8.1g of fibre and 15.4g of protein. So-so. The ingredients list doesn’t include palm fat, but there’s some honey too. So it’s not too bad after all.

Well, there’s no chance for it to be a sustainable anything. Sorry.

This is not a cherry bakewell. This is not our taste. This is not a good taste at all

Seriously. This protein flapjack is nothing you’d want to experience. Yes, it smells lovely. But we assume you’d want to eat it and enjoy it, right? And the latter is not what you’ll find here. So should you give it a try? You may try, but we’ll say it straight away: if you skip it, then you won’t lose anything. And also you’ll save some money. In other words, it’s not worth your money.

Will we ever go back to this protein flapjack? We are pretty sure we won’t.

P.S. It’s gluten-free and that may be the reason for our not-so-good overall experience.
